Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry is one of the biggest stars in the game today, which is why he is watched in everything he does on and off the court. When did he start the “night, night”?
Curry explained that this is not the first time he has performed this gesture, which he originally displayed in one of his first-round playoff games against the Denver Nuggets:
“Down the stretch in the fourth quarter against the Nuggets I was just talking to myself, ‘Put them to sleep. Put them to sleep.’ ‘ I don’t even know where it came from. It literally wasn’t a thought,” Steph Curry explained to Boardroom’s Nick DePaula.
Curry put them to sleep and from then on the move was repeated in subsequent series:

“Fast forward to Memphis (Grizzlies), Dallas (Mavericks) and then Boston (Celtics), and it took on a life of its own,” Curry said. “I was just having fun. You talk about having kids. You know how important bedtime routines are. It’s the final sign of a job well done that day. Pretty special.”
A move that went viral and is now a trademark
Although the patent for this move has now been attributed to Curry he is not the only one to have pulled this move:
“So, now I realize there was a guy in baseball who did it. Maybe in soccer, I don’t remember who it was. I think Taurean Prince did it in a game once,” Curry told Complex Sports’ Zion Olojede. “So I’ve been looking at all the receipts from the people who pulled it, but in terms of the time I did it, No. 1, I didn’t know about them, but in terms of the time it happened, I consider it an original frame, so we’re rocking with it.”
But also after Curry, this celebration has been seen in almost every sport, such as when WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu hit a game-winning shot or Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Andrew McCutchen used it when he came to the plate after connecting on a home run and it went to the next level when a young man lay down on the ground and did his Curry-approved celebration there.
