Dak Prescott is still not 100 percent recovered from the hand injury suffered during the Dallas Cowboys’ opening game of the 2022 season, but he is very close to returning.

As disclosed by the franchise on Friday, the quarterback has questionable status to take the field in the NFC East duel against the Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday Night Football.

The injury in Week 1 occurred during the last quarter of the 19-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Prescott risked a throw and ended up bumping into linebacker Shaquill Barrett, who slipped on his right hand. As soon as the play was over, the QB was already seen on the sideline receiving medical attention.

“They told me it could have been worse,” said the player after the play.

On Wednesday, Prescott participated in his first practice with receivers since going to the medical department, but head coach Mike McCarthy announced that he is prepared to have Cooper Rush as the starter against Philadelphia, in light of the likely situation that Dak will not recover in time. Since he took over the reins of the franchise in Week 2, Rush is undefeated: four games and four wins.

The division classic will take place this Sunday. The venue will be Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Eagles.
