Russell Westbrook appears to have accepted his role as a bench player with the Los Angeles Lakers, with Darvin Ham making a compelling case to convince the player.

It seemed as though the former Oklahoma City Thunder star would be traded before the 2022 season began, but he has now accepted a role on the bench.

Lakers are going to move forward with Westbrook

With a trade now looking unlikely, Westbrook is going to embrace his role as a bench player for the Lakers.

He came off the bench against the Denver Nuggets as the Los Angeles franchise earned their first win of the season.

Westbrook finished with 18 points and eight assists, and Ham believes he was instrumented in convincing the former MVP to be on the bench.

“I told him… believe in me bro, I’m gonna put you in a position to succeed, but you have to put the group first,” Ham explained in an interview with ClutchPoints.

“It can’t be about me or I or mine. It’s gotta be us, ours, we.”
