Sydney Sweeney has stated that she finds people who screenshot her nude scenes and tag her family disgusting, as this has been a recurrent thing.
Sweeney spoke with GQ and said that “It got to the point where they were tagging my family. My cousins don’t need that. It’s completely disgusting and unfair,”
Cassie Howard
Sydney Sweeney’s most known character is Euphoria’s Cassie Howard, a show that with only two seasons it has become a fan favorite for its theme and controversy. Euphoria addresses all of the character’s sexuality and there are some nude scenes, including one with Sweeney.
“You have a character that goes through the scrutiny of being a sexualized person at school and then an audience that does the same thing,” she mentioned to the outlet.
She’s being cyber-bullied
“I think it’s ridiculous. I’m an artist, I play characters. It makes me want to play characters that piss people off more,” she added.
Sweeny was all about breaking stereotypes
“I had boobs before other girls and I felt ostracized for it, I was embarrassed and I never wanted to change in the locker room. I think that I put on this weird persona other people had of me because of my body. So I did play every sport and I studied really hard and I did everything that people wouldn’t think I would do, to show them that my body doesn’t define who I am.”
Nudity only when necessary
The White Lotus actress also shared with the Independent that she thinks twice about having nude scenes in the HBO hit show, and speaks to the director to make sure it is completely necessary.
“There are moments where [my character] Cassie was supposed to be shirtless and I would tell Sam, ‘I don’t really think that’s necessary here; He was like, ‘OK, we don’t need it.'”
Director Sam Levinson is very careful with the nudity in the show
Sam Levinson has been very respectful and has avoided pushing her to do anything she is not comfortable accomplishing on the scene.
“I’ve never felt like Sam has pushed it on me or was trying to get a nude scene into an HBO show,” she had explained, adding, “When I didn’t want to do it, he didn’t make me.”
