We’ve all made analysis of how Anthony Joshua lost two consecutive fights against Oleksandr Usyk, he was very predictable from the start. In fact, a fight against Deontay Wilder would’ve been even more devastating for him. Joshua is a big fella, he doesn’t have too much speed when compared to other quicker fighters. Oleksandr Usyk is more on the light heavyweight side, he is far more agile than any other heavyweight in the division. That’s exactly where Anthony Joshua got bested but legendary Evander Holyfield has a different theory.

Talking to IFL TV, this is what Holyfield said: “Anthony Joshua is a good fighter but if you don’t throw enough punches and don’t use your size to your advantage, then I don’t know what he can do. He’s a big guy, he’s got to use his jab. Everybody uses their jab, Anthony Joshua can pretty much do the same thing because he’s a big, large and good fighter. He actually can box but he has to be able to be more agressive. Sometimes he gets with a guy and he doesn’t overpower him, he won’t push you down. But sometimes they push him down. You have to play the game right so you don’t let anybody outhustle you.”

Anthony Joshua’s next fight

Anthony Joshua needs a good opponent next in order to find his footing against towards a possible third title shot. The rumors place him in a potential bout against Deontay Wilder. But fighting as he did against Usyk, Evander Holyfield’s theory will be put to the test. Joshua needs to be more agressive but he needs more speed and less muscle in order to do that. If he doesn’t lower his bodyweight and gain more agility, Anthony Joshua’s career might be over as quicker fighters will keep overpowering him with that jab.

Deontay Wilder as a possible opponent is definitely a major challenge for the Brit, he knows that a single punch can send him to sleep. Perhaps finding new ways to learn evasive moves might be one of his top priorities in order to improve as a boxer. Seeking Evander Holyfield’s advice could be a way to go about it for his next opponent. However, the former heavyweight champ himself revealed he doesn’t like to simply offer unsolicited advice to his peers.
