The football world has suffered another loss in recent days following the passing of Dwayne Haskins, after it was confirmed that Brian Wallace, former Arkansas lineman, died at age 26 after suffering two heart attacks.
The news was confirmed by the Razorbacks in a statement posted on social media, without giving further information about the passing of the offensive tackle.
“Brian will always be a Razorback. Our thoughts and love are with Brian’s family and friends,” Arkansas tweeted.
Wallace reportedly suffered two heart attacks
Despite no official cause of death being officially given, it has been learned that last Monday Wallace was having trouble breathing while at work, and decided to go out and sit in his car in search of recovery.
However, once he returned to work he suffered a heart attack, and medical services were immediately called, which initially reportedly managed to restore Wallace’s breathing, according to FOX 16.
But as soon as they arrived at the hospital, Wallace suffered a second heart attack, so he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of a St. Louis hospital, as he was in a coma and with apparent brain damage due to heart attacks.
After Wallace reportedly moved his leg and arm on Tuesday, his family was hopeful that he would recover, which ultimately was not the case.
CBC and Razorbacks honor Wallace
Wallace was a 4-star recruit at CBC as a high schooler and the top player in the state of Missouri when he signed with Arkansas in 2014, playing 1,998 total plays on the Razorbacks’ offensive line.
After being signed by the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2019, he joined Washington in their bid to play in the NFL, but was cut due to a non-football injury and signed with the Seattle Seahawks, though he did not appear in a game with the team.
In 2020, Wallace played in four games for the St. Louis BattleHawks of the XFL, starting in one of them.
