Tyson Fury had given Anthony Joshua until 17:00 BST on Monday afternoon to sign the contract for the fight between the two British heavyweights.

Now, the Gypsy King has announced that Joshua has failed to meet that deadline and that, as a result, there will be no fight.

Was it all a bluff by Gypsy King, who now says he will fight Manuel Charr on December 3?

“D-day has come and gone. It’s gone past 5 o’clock Monday and no contract has been signed,” he said on social media.

“It’s officially over for Joshua. Forget about it, idiot, coward, sh**house, bodybuilder.

“Always knew it, always knew you didn’t have the minerals to fight the Gypsy King. Good luck with your career, end of.”

To get the big fight the UK dreamed of in less than ten days was a tall order, especially as the various broadcasting platforms involved had to be brought into agreement. Fury offered a generic deal that didn’t sound bad – of 60/40 in his favour.

AJ accepted the date his opponent imposed on him, knowing that it didn’t suit him after coming off his second loss to Usyk. He hasn’t commented on whether he smelled a possible Gypsy King bluff in all of this either.

No one has clarified how the negotiations were going either. Fury, in any case, already talked about Charr as soon as Usyk said he wouldn’t be stepping into the ring any more this year.
