Manchester City earned another important three-point haul as they battle to retain the Premier League title, with Gabriel Jesus the star man as Pep Guardiola‘s side thrashed Watford 5-1. The Brazilian scored four of the goals and also set up the other for Rodri.

It took just four minutes for the Sky Blues to go ahead on the scoreboard, doing so when Gabriel Jesus turned in a driven cross from Oleksandr Zinchenko, showing the Etihad he was in the mood.

The striker then headed in another cross, this time from Kevin de Bruyne, to extend Manchester City‘s lead, before Hassane Kamara pulled one back for the Hornets.

Gabriel Jesus, though, proved that he can also set up goals as he assisted Rodri to make it a 3-1 lead for the home side at half time.

A series of Watford errors saw Manchester City win a penalty at the beginning of the second half, with Gabriel Jesus taking and scoring it after he himself had won it.

Minutes later he scored his fourth and Manchester City‘s fifth of the afternoon, rounding off a neat team move.

There were no more goals in the final half hour of the game, but the job was done and Manchester City can now look ahead to Real Madrid.

They’ll also watch on with interest as Liverpool face Everton in Sunday’s Merseyside derby. If Jurgen Klopp‘s side win then they’ll move back to within one point of Manchester City, who currently hold a four-point lead having played one game more.
