Renowned promoter Eddie Hearn has now revealed just what Anthony Joshua said to Oleksandr Usyk in an attempt to get into the latter’s head ahead of their fight.

The two heavyweights face off in Saudi Arabia on Saturday night with Joshua seeking to reclaim his belts from Usyk after losing in September 2021.

During their pre-fight weigh in and press conference, the two squared up intensely, starting into one another’s eyes for about two minutes without uttering a single word, with Hearn standing by their side.

In the build-up to the fight, there have been some rumours circulating that Usyk picked up an injury, and Joshua wanted to plant a seed of doubt about his own condition in the Ukrainian’s head.??Joshua‘s pre-fight comments to Usyk

“It was a great head-to-head and AJ just said, ‘How’s your body?’,” Hearn explained to talkSPORT.

Usyk went, ‘What?’ And AJ said, ‘How’s the body? Are you ready?’

“There’s been stories in sparring. If he did get hurt to the body in sparring, that will stick up there in his mind.

“We could see him from the side and I said to AJ up there, ‘Look at him – you’ve got to take this guy to hell!’

“I know he’s good, I know he’s the pound-for-pound number one, but look at the physicality.

AJ is a monster compared to this guy. He’s 23lbs heavier, that’s almost two stone.

“One thing’s for sure, if he attacks the body and he attacks with variation to the head as well, it is physically impossible for Usyk to stand up to AJ‘s firepower.”
