Everything is ready for the fight between Saul Canelo Alvarez and Russian Dmitry Bivol to take place next Saturday, May 7, a bout that will be the Mexican’s return to 175 pounds in search of the WBA Semi-Complete World Championship.

Alvarez did not fight in this division since November 2, 2019, when he defeated by knockout another fighter of Russian origin, Sergey Kovalev.

In addition, Canelo’s last fight happened last November 6, 2021 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, with the Mexican winning by knockout against Caleb Plant, although throughout last year he also defeated Avni Yildirim and Billy Joe Saunders.

How much will Canelo earn for facing Bivol and two more opponents in 2022?

Similarly, Alvarez is expected to fight a total of three fights throughout 2022 and once he leaves behind his bout against Bivol he would complete his trilogy of fights against Gennady Golvokin, while his third opponent of the year could be Ilunga Makabu or John Ryder.

The sum of these three fights would represent a huge windfall for the Mexican, who already has one of the largest net worths in the sport.

Canelo has reportedly reached an agreement to fight Bivol plus two more fights in 2022 in exchange for $160 million, according to ESPN’s Mike Coppinger.

Although more information about his potential third fight against Golvokin is not yet clear, the third fight this year, theoretically against Makabu or Ryder, would take place in London, England, at the end of the year.
