Inter Miami have made it very clear that they want to sign Lionel Messi when the time is right.

MLS has become a popular destination for ageing stars to wind down their career and many feel that Messi will eventually end up doing the same.

He is under contract with Paris Saint-Germain until the summer of 2023 and the Ligue 1 champions have been clear that they want to keep him at the club for another year beyond that.

However, the MLS is an attractive destination for the Rosario native, who could pack his bags for the United States. Xavier Asensi, commercial director of Inter Miami, confirmed the interest of the South Beach club in the Argentine.

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, he stated that Inter Miami‘s objective is to acquire the best players possible.

There are a number of clubs in MLS that have been linked with Messi over the years so there could be a battle for his services.

In South Beach Messi would count on one of his teammates and friends on the pitch. Gonzalo Higuain is the striker of the team coached by Phil Neville and would undoubtedly help his adaptation.

Before that move can take place though, the Argentine has got a lot business that he wants to take care of whilst still playing his club football in Europe.

Messi is aiming to win his fifth Champions League and also reach his first World Cup with Argentina at the end of the year in Qatar.
