Inter Miami 'set to sell DeAndre Yedlin to FC Cincinnati for $172,000 in General Allocation Money' -  freeing up $683,000 in salary-budget space

FC Cincinnati is on the verge of signing DeAndre Yedlin from Inter Miami for $172,000 in General Allocation Money, according to reports.

Yedlin has spent the last two years in Miami after completing a move from Turkish club Galatasaray, racking up 80 appearances during his time at the newly-named Chase Stadium.

The former Tottenham and Newcastle defender played a key part in their first ever trophy win last season, when he helped Tata Martino’s men claim the Leagues Cup.

The Cincinnati Enquirer was first to report news about the trade, which will see Miami receive $172,000 in GAM.

The transfer will also free up significant space on their salary budget, given Yedlin’s cap hit was an estimated $683,000.

Julian Gressel is expected to replace him at right back in Miami for the meantime, though Houston Dynamo defender Franco Escobar is believed to be a target for the club.

As for Yedlin, he will slot into the right wing-back position in Pat Noonan’s 3-4-3 system over in Cincinnati.

The 30-year-old, who has been capped 81 times by the USMNT, started his career in MLS with Seattle Sounders before heading to the Premier League to sign for Tottenham in 2014.

After making just one appearance for Spurs and being sent out on loan to Sunderland, Yedlin was sold to the latter’s bitter rivals Newcastle in 2016.

He spent five years at St James’ Park, making 125 appearances while helping the Magpies go from second-tier English club to top-flight regulars once again.
