Ja Morant put in a tremendous display (47 points, eight rebounds, eight steals and three assists) to make it 1-1 in the NBA playoff series between his Memphis Grizzlies and the Golden State Warriors.

The point guard has taken all the plaudits after a huge performance, making NBA history and, more importantly, breathing life into a team that looked like it could be swept.

It certainly wasn’t an easy matchup for the Grizzlies against the already difficult Warriors, as the offensive nature and rhythm of the Bay Area team was tough to manage.

Morant‘s 47 points see him match two NBA legends, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, as they are the only other two to have had multiple 45-point playoff game under the age of 23.

The current rising star previously hit that marker in the 2020/21 playoffs against the Utah Jazz, also scoring 47, while his Game Two effort against the Warriors was a statement of intent in a playoff series that has a clear favourite.

The Warriors start with all the guarantees, but in Memphis they have found an opponent who will at least put up a fight.
