Tennis star Jessica Pegula is making great progress in the US Open this summer and she is being watched by her famous parents, Terry Pegula and Kim Pegula, who own the Buffalo Bills in the NFL.

Terry Pegula, though Pegula Sports and Entertainment, also owns the Buffalo Sabres in the NHL.

The late-blooming and eighth-seeded Pegula is the highest-ranked American, male or female, and she has reached her first US Open quarter-finals, doing so with a routine 6-3, 6-2 dismantling of Petra Kvitova.

It was over in just one hour and 13 minutes, after which Pegula was asking the enthusiastic Arthur Ashe Stadium crowd whether there were any Bills fans in the house.

“I don’t mind missing the game if I’m still playing,” said Pegula, who could be playing Thursday night in the semi-finals if she beats number one seed Iga Swiatek.

She was referring to the Bills, who’ll play in the opener for the new NFL season on Thursday night against the Los Angeles Rams at at SoFi Stadium.

But, the way Pegula is stroking the ball, she may even have an easier time against the top seed than her NFL team will do against the Super Bowl champions.

Terry Pegula isn’t cheering on Jessica Pegula in person

It seems that Terry does not have an overwhelming desire to go and see his daughter play in the flesh.

“He just tells me ‘good job’,” Pegula said when asked about her father’s input.

“He likes to give his little recap of the match or of what the opponent was doing.

“He might enjoy watching at home because it might not be so stressful.

“Honestly, I have my brother and sister here already.

“If I made it to the final, I don’t really know, let’s say, if he would come necessarily. We’ll see.”
