In a somewhat cryptic social media post, linebacker JJ Watt has announced that he will retire at the end of this NFL season.
The 33-year-old is currently in his second season with the Arizona Cardinals, after having spent the rest of his NFL career with the Houston Texans between 2011 and 2020.
Picked 11th overall by the Texans, Watt lived up to the hype and was named Defensive Player of the Year three times, in 2012, 2014 and 2015.

In a tweet shared on Tuesday, Watt explained that he has already played his final home game of his career, as the Arizona Cardinals will finish the season with two road trips.
“Koa’s first ever NFL game, my last ever NFL home game,” he stated.
“My heart is filled with nothing but love and gratitude. It’s been an absolute honor and a pleasure.”

After posting the message, the NFL legend received various messages of congratulations for what has been a stellar career.
“One of the best to ever do it, first ballot HOF,” replied ESPN pundit Dan Orlovsky.
Meanwhile, his brother TJ Watt – who plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers – shared a crying gif.
