The desperation of the wife of WNBAPhoenix Mercury star basketball player Brittney Griner for concrete actions for the release of the Olympic medalist after her prolonged detention in Russia for a drug-related offense has finally been answered by the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden.

Brittney Griner’s wife tells ABC she wants WNBA star home

Cherelle Griner spoke out about his wife’s letter to Biden pleading for his help in returning home, after Brittney’s trial has begun and she could face up to 10 years in prison.

Cherelle Griner’s heartbreaking words

“It kills me every time that, you know, when I have to write her and she’s asking, ‘Have you met with them yet?’ And I have to say no…. I’m sure she is like ‘I’m going to write him and ask now because my family has tried to avail no, so I’m going to do it myself,'” Cherelle Griner told CBS Mornings.

In response to these words, the Biden Administration set an official position by informing that the President of the United States himself has already read Brittney Griner’s letter and that they are taking this matter as a top priority.

“We are going to use every tool we possibly can to make that happen,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said. “This is very personal to him.”

In her letter, Brittney Griner was terrified and not only pleaded for herself, but also used the moment to plead for help for many other U.S. citizens detained in Russia.

“I realize you are dealing with so much, but please don’t forget about me and the other American Detainees. Please do all you can to bring us home,” Griner wrote. “I voted for the first time in 2020 and I voted for you. I believe in you. I still have so much good to do with my freedom that you can help restore. I miss my wife! I miss my family! I miss my teammates! It kills me to know they are suffering so much right now. I am grateful for whatever you can do at this moment to get me home.”
