A few days before the start of the Cincinnati Bengals‘ NFL preseason activity, the defending AFC champion team received some good news, as after several days of absence, star quarterback Joe Burrow was finally able to return to practice with his teammates on a limited basis.

At the beginning of the training camps, Burrow had to undergo emergency surgery due to appendicitis, however, this Monday he felt better so he was even able to throw some passes, not many, however, the symptom of his improvement is encouraging for a team that clearly depends on him to compete for the first Vince Lombardi Trophy in its history.

Burrow: It stings.. but we still have something to celebrateAP

How is Joe Burrow’s health?

“He’s feeling better,” Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan said in an interview with ESPN. “So I asked him if he wanted to do it (throw some passes) and he said, ‘Yes.'”

Last season, Burrow returned from a severe injury to dazzle with his talent and a great duo with receiver Ja’Marr Chase in which he combined with his former teammate at LSU at the collegiate level to lead the Bengals to Super Bowl LVI which they lost to the Los Angeles Rams.

Zac Taylor’s hope

“I think what you see is what you get,” Cincinnati head coach Zac Taylor said. “It’s looking good to me. He’s starting to get better every day. Again, I don’t want to put a date on when he’ll come out and start throwing and stuff like that, but he’s been encouraging.”

The Bengals kick off the preseason next Friday when they face the Arizona Cardinals, the hope is that Burrow will be fully recovered by the time Cincinnati has its regular-season opener next Sunday, Sept. 11, against the AFC North rival Pittsburgh Steelers.
