Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. was arrested at the weekend by Los Angeles police for illegally possessing a firearm at his home.

The arrest came after authorities went to the Mexican’s home after receiving a call from a supporter of the boxer alerting them to the risk the former world champion was running.

Chavez Jr. allowed police access to his home where they found the ‘phantom weapon’, meaning there is no record of it.

A couple of days after the arrest, his lawyer spoke for the first time about his client’s situation.

“I have nothing to say at this time, the arraignment was postponed until Thursday and we will deal with the matter until then. Mr Chavez has an incredible family that supports him and we are going to deal with this until Thursday, I thank them for their support. Everything is fine, everything is fine”, were the words of his lawyer when approached by the media.

Julio Cesar Chavez wants a change for his son

On Monday, a day after the arrest, Julio Cesar Chavez confirmed through a statement the situation of his son and showed his optimism for the improvement of his son’s life.

“It’s been a long road, but I don’t lose faith. I pray to God that this is the moment that propels my son towards a useful and happy life,” the statement read.
