Boxing and Julio César Chávez were born to be together, although the ‘Great Mexican Champion’ hung up his gloves professionally more than 15 years ago, however, this is no reason to say goodbye to this profession and on this occasion the Aztec idol will get into the ring to pay tribute to Ignacio Beristáin.

“I could not refuse, Nacho (Beristáin) is a person for whom I feel great affection and who has been not only with me, but also with my children” said the ‘César of boxing’, during the event that took place in Mexico City.

Who is Chavez’ opponent?

This exhibition fight, besides having Julio César Chávez as the main event in one of the corners of the ring, on the other side will be former boxer Daniel ‘El Zurdo de Tacubaya’ Zaragoza, who in the 80’s was WBC champion in Bantamweight and Super Bantamweight.

This entertainment event will also feature other former world champions such as Juan Manuel Marquez and Humberto ‘Chiquita’ Gonzalez. On the other hand, in professional fights will be the active boxers, Johnny Gonzalez, Pedro Guevara and the interim champion Sonia Osorio.

Where and when will the show take place?

The fight of the ‘Great Mexican Champion’ against ‘El Zurdo de Tacubaya’ will take place on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at the Plaza de Toros in Mexico City.

This exhibition show would be the first of two that Julio Cesar Chavez has planned for this year, since at the end of the year he plans to return to give an entertainment show, because boxing and he will always be together.
