However, this Thursday the famous KD released the reasons why he demanded such a change, although as we will see later these arguments are different from those once issued by the two-time NBA champion.

“It wasn’t difficult at all to request a trade because it was about ball,” Durant said. “I went to them and was like, ‘Yo, I don’t like how we are preparing. I don’t like shootarounds. I like practices. I need more. I want to work on more shit. Hold me accountable. Get on my ass in film if that’s going to help you get on everybody else’s head. I want to do more closeouts. I want to work on more shell drills at practice.”

It is worth remembering that in Durant’s early days with the Nets, the plan was always to win with a Big 3 consisting of the aforementioned player, plus Kyrie Irving, who still remains in Brooklyn and James Harden, who in the last Trade Deadline was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers and in his place came Ben Simmons, who has not been able to perform with his new team.

Last September, Durant’s words were very different from what he said in Thursday’s remarks.
“It was a lot of uncertainty around our team last year,” Durant said. “I committed to this organization for four years last summer with the idea that we were gonna be playing with that group.”
