Barcelona‘s summer spending has spent a lot of football fans scratching their heads, given their well documented financial troubles.

One such outsider left baffled by their transfer market activity is Jurgen Klopp.

The Liverpool boss, who coached Robert Lewandowski when the pair were together at Borussia Dortmund, says he is surprised by the things the Catalan side are doing in an interview with Kicker.

Klopp confused by Barcelona spending

“I don’t understand it [Barcelona‘s spending],” Klopp said. “If you tell me I don’t have money, I don’t spend anything anymore. This happened to me twice in the past with my credit card.

“I’m watching this like a football fan, I don’t understand.”

Are Barcelona in danger?

“The only club I know that once sold the stadium and other rights in advance was Borussia Dortmund,” Klopp added.

Aki Watzke had to come in at the last second and saved everything, and I don’t know if there is an Aki Watzke at Barcelona.”
