Brooklyn Nets player Kyrie Irving has now talked about the suspension he served because of his behaviour on social media.

He was suspended by the NBA franchise for a minimum of five games for promoting materials containing antisemitic content on his own social media pages.

He then refused to apologise for his actions which led to the Nets sidelining him.

He has been silent on social media even among rumours that he was meeting with Nets owner Joe Tsai and NBA commissioner Adam Silver.

He broke that silence on Sunday though as he shared a very lengthy Twitter post about his supposed antisemitism.

“I was not put here on earth to participate in any religious/political wars or incite racial disharmony/prejudice within communities,” he wrote.

“We are all equal under the sun and I am here to participate in the building of an Equal world and follow the Word from the Most High/GOD/YAH.”

There was immediate responses from both fans and critics of Irving on Twitter. One user said: “Why have u yet to learn Twitter is NOT a good fit for you and how you want to communicate with the world.”

Another user said that ‘the Nets owe you millions’ and another said ‘we love you and stand with you Kyrie’.

He was named the Rookie of the Year after being selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the first overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft. A seven-time All-Star and three-time member of the All-NBA Team, he won an NBA championship with the Cavaliers in 2016.

Irving has been known fro promoting a lot of conspiracy theories during his career and that led into his refusal to get the COVID-19 vaccine. He then missed the majority of the NBA games in 2021/22 as a result.
