Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer has filed a defamation lawsuit against a woman who accused him of assault last year. Bauer has not played since July 2 since being put on paid leave by his team and could soon face suspension by Major League Baseball.
The women in question accused Bauer of assaulting and sexually abusing her during two sexual encounters at the player’s Pasadena home last year. Ever since these accusations, which he maintains are false, his career has been derailed.
“After their first sexual encounter, [the woman] continued to pursue Mr. Bauer so she could have rough sex with him again, but this time, she told Mr. Bauer she wanted a rougher sexual experience,” said Bauer‘s lawsuit, which was filed Monday in the US District Court in California.
“Unbeknownst to Mr. Bauer, who believed [the woman] was just expressing her sexual preferences, [the woman’s] goal was to lure Mr. Bauer into having a rougher sexual experience so she could later claim this sexual experience was not what she requested and thereby lay the groundwork for a financial settlement.”
Despite the woman’s claims, Bauer was never arrested and no charges were ever made. In fact, the women’s request for a restraining order was turned down by a judge in Los Angeles last August.
After the second encounter between the two, the woman was hospitalised, but Bauer insists that their sex was consensual. The women agrees that it began consensual but then says it went too far and that Bauer even abused her while unconscious.
