Charles Leclerc won the Austrian GP on Sunday and reignited his battle for the World Drivers Championship.
Max Verstappen came across the line in second place in what was his team’s home Grand Prix. It was a weekend to forget for the other Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz who had to retire when in third place after a serious engine failure.
Lewis Hamilton took advantage of the Spaniard’s woes by putting his Mercedes on the podium for a third race in a row, showing the progress that the team are making.
George Russell was involved in an early incident with Sergio Perez which saw him get a five second penalty which he served in his next pit stop. Despite that he managed to get P4 in his Mercedes.
Esteban Ocon took fifth in the Alpine and Haas driver Mick Schumacher got his best ever finish by ending up in P6.
Lando Norris took P7 followed by Kevin Magnussen, Daniel Ricciardo and Fernando Alonso who closed out the points positions.
Sergio Perez ended up having to retire his Red Bull meaning there was three cars who did not finish, Sainz and Nicholas Latifi being the others.
It was a race to forget for the Alpha Tauris as Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda could only get P15 and 16 respectively for their team in Austria.
It seemed that a lot of cars were struggling with tyre degradation at the Red Bull Ring and that was the problem for Max Verstappen.
He started the race on poll after winning the Sprint on Saturday but ended up having to settle for P2 on Sunday.
