The Guinea captain was stretchered off after sscoring the opening goal in the Reds’ emphatic away win at Old Trafford last Sunday

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has declared Naby Keita ready for their Premier League outing against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

After scoring the opening goal in Liverpool’s 5-0 hammering of Manchester United last Sunday, Keita was at the receiving end of a horror tackle from Paul Pogba at Old Trafford.

The 26-year-old was subsequently stretchered off in pain on the hour-mark while Pogba was shown a straight red card as punishment after a VAR review.

Keita missed the Reds’ League Cup triumph over Preston North End in mid-week, but Klopp has delivered a positive update on his condition as they look to stretch their unbeaten Premier League run to 10 matches against Brighton at Anfield.

“Naby Keita looks good; we were all surprised, but he was obviously lucky so I think he will be ready,” Klopp said in a press conference on Friday.

Keita has played six league matches so far this term, with a contribution of two goals and an assist.

Klopp further provided updates on Thiago Alcantara, who is suffering from a calf muscle strain, and Fabinho, who picked up an injury during their Uefa Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid nine days ago.

Thiago has not played since their 3-0 win over Crystal Palace on September 18.

“With Fabinho it doesn’t look that good, it’s a bit more complicated,” the German coach continued.

“Not too complicated, but complicated enough to keep him out now again, probably. I still wait for last news, but he was not in team training yet and that is never a good sign.

“Thiago was in team training for the first time yesterday. We did a session where he could be part of pretty much the whole session – that doesn’t mean he is ready to play a football game, unfortunately.

“We will see what we do with him, but he is closer than he was last week, much closer. Now we have to see what we do with that.”
