There have been new developments in the race to sign Erling Haaland.
The Borussia Dortmund striker has several suitors and each of them are using their weapons to try to convince the attacker. One of the best-placed sides to become Haaland‘s new home is Manchester City.
One of the big attractions that the English team can offer is the chance for players to work under their coach, Pep Guardiola.
Guardiola contract extension
According to the Sun, the Catalan, who has a contract until 2023, has agreed a contract extension that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2025.
The move is also aimed at seducing Haaland, who, according to the same report, wanted guarantees that Pep would stay for more than one season if he finally going to commit to joining City.
City‘s interest in Haaland goes back a long way. A few weeks ago, the Daily Mail even claimed that the club already had an agreement in place to sign the sought-after striker.
The 21-year-old, meanwhile, is still going strong. He scored three goals, the first two from the penalty spot, to score his first league hat-trick of the season in Saturday’s match against Bochum, although his goals were not enough to secure a home win as Dortmund lost 4-3.
Who could sign Haaland?
Although Manchester City seem to have the upper hand at the moment, Real Madrid are not losing track of the striker either, and nor are Bayern Munich, with whom the player’s representatives held a meeting in March.
It is expected to be a busy summer transfer window for Haaland and his camp.
