Manchester United representatives are reportedly in Barcelona to push through a move for Frenkie de Jong.

Erik ten Hag is desperate to be reunited with the midfielder whom he coached at Ajax and the club are now aiming to get the deal over the line after months of speculation.

That’s according to Jijantes, who claim that United have sent a delegation to the Catalan capital to negotiate a transfer.

De Jong joined Monday’s training session while, at the same time, the Red Devils’ CEO and director of football have held a meeting with Barcelona‘s sporting management composed of Rafa Yuste, Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff.

Joan Laporta said a few days ago that he would do everything in his power to prevent De Jong‘s departure. The player, for his part, insists that his desire is to stay at the club, and yet the United option is still there. It is on the table and is more real than ever.

Financially, Manchester United would be willing to come close to the figure Barcelona consider acceptable to let the Dutchman leave: 75 million euros.

United could also offer the midfielder a seductive contract, although he is in line to collect massive wages at Barcelona should he stay.

While nothing is yet agreed, there could be major movements ahead in the imminent future.
