One of the news stories that circulated a few months ago surrounding Tom Brady was that the Miami Dolphins had contacted him in violation of an NFL rule.
There was speculation for weeks that Brady might end up playing in Miami, but it didn’t materialize. However, a new theory circulating in the halls of the NFL indicates that this could have had a strong impact on the marriage between Brady and Gisele Bündchen.
Pro Football Talk‘s Mike Florio pointed out that this theory could have been the one that broke up the seven-time Super Bowl winner’s marriage for good.
Gisele had no idea about the negotiations with the Dolphins
Florio commented on Barstool’s ‘Pardon My Take’ podcast: “There’s a theory in league circles, and I think I’m expressing it correctly, that the issues with Tom Brady and his wife blew up when the league announced the punishment to the Dolphins. Because of the flirtation with Brady, because she had, the theory goes, no idea that he was talking to the Dolphins.”
“But I’m telling you, there are people employed by NFL teams who think that. And when you look at the timeline, that stuff came out, and it was the next day that he started missing practice,” he recalled.
However, Florio ended up saying that was “reckless speculation”.
Miami and its owner punished for approaching Brady
Because they violated a rule prohibiting such approaches, Miami and its owner, Stephen Ross, were punished by the NFL for tampering with Brady (while the latter was with the New England Patriots) and former New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton.
Miami had its first- and third-round picks in the 2023 and 2024 drafts docked. Ross was suspended until Oct. 17 and fined $1.5 million.
