After Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder hinted that he has taken the first step to sell the team, former Dallas Cowboys star Michael Irvin predicted that the new owner of the Commanders will be Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
He also said that if this happens, Bezos will make an irresistible offer for Aaron Rodgers to finish his career as Washington’s QB.
It all came to him after Bezos and Goodell’s meeting
Irvin said the idea popped into his head when he saw Bezos standing next to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell at a recent Thursday Night Football:
“When I watched that first ‘Thursday Night Football’ game, and I saw Roger Goodell sitting there with Jeff Bezos, I said, ‘Oh, God. Somebody’s got to quit their team. Somebody has to give up their team because you know Bezos is going to try.’ That’s what I thought,” Irvin said.
According to a TMZ Sports report, Bezos has interest in the Commanders, but would partner with rapper Jay-Z to buy the team. The Washington Post added that Bezos is studying the offer.
Irvin goes a step further in his prediction
The legendary No. 88 of Cowboys, with whom he won 3 Super Bowls in the 1990s, assured that once Bezos takes over in Washington, the team’s QB will be Aaron Rodgers, who would leave Green Bay Packers to finish his career in Washington.
“I see them wanting to get Aaron Rodgers out of [Green Bay],” Irving explained. “On the other side, I see Jeff Bezos about to get Washington. I said, ‘Michael, I hope this day somehow comes to fruition where Bezos gets Washington and buys the team. Sooner or later, he works out some deal, and they get Aaron Rodgers to come to Washington.’ Give it a year or two, Aaron will be in Washington.”
