Mike Tyson is one of the greatest boxers in history. The former New York fighter went through a tough childhood that was later projected in his performance in the ring. However, this also affected his life outside the sport.
Recently, one of his many controversial episodes arose when he assaulted a passenger while traveling on a commercial airliner. He was questioned about it in an interview with NORE and DJ EFN on Drink Champs.
“Even though they didn’t press charges, and I was right from a moral perspective, I shouldn’t have touched him,” explained the former world champion who denoted to be remorseful.
Painful truth
In the same space “Iron Mike” made a harsh confession about his life outside the ring.
“I am a recovering drug addict and alcoholic,” he said.
Tyson’s problems are not new and it is something he wants to solve, but one of his greatest enemies is his own aggressiveness and closed-mindedness.
“I know a lot of great people, but they’re not good people. I want to be a good person,” explained the former universal monarch who is looking to reinvent himself after numerous controversies.
Change of mentality
The destructive character of the former boxer used to wreak havoc on his rivals when they got into the ring, but now he says that is behind him and his greatest aspiration is to change his way of being once he retires for good from the sport he is so passionate about.
“Now those days are gone, it’s empty, I’m nothing. I’m working on feeling the art of humility. I don’t want that person to go out, because if he goes out, hell comes with him,” reflected the former heavyweight champion of the world in the 80s.
For the time being, Tyson is still expected to make at least one exhibition fight. The detail is that no one has been able to guarantee him the millionaire sum of money he intends to get for getting back into the ring at 55 years of age.
