In 2010, a 47-year-old Michael Jordan once played a scrimmage against the Charlotte Bobcats starters and won with bench players on his side, but not before making all of them take off their Jordan sneakers.

During an appearance on the “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast, former NBA player Stephen Jackson recalled the time he and the first team lost to MJ and second-string players.

Jordan attempting shots from crazy angles

“We got our a– beat by somebody, and he came in the locker room after the game just going off on us, like, ‘We need to get our s–t together,” Jackson said. “I made some little comment or something like that. He ain’t say nothing, so he came into practice the next day. … He’s going off.”

Jackson explained that MJ first made everyone take off their Jordan sneakers and then proceeded to beat them in a scrimmage.

“He came out there, pushed whoever Gerald Wallace was guarding, the three-guard, kicked him out and got in that spot, played with the second team,” Jackson said. “He scored a couple points, and to the point where he talked so much s–t afterward, he grabbed the ball and went and dunked one on the way out. True story.”

GOAT debate settled after Stephen Jackson’s story?

NBA Twitter quickly reacted to Jackson’s story, saying that MJ beating a professional team at 47 makes him the undisputed GOAT over the likes of LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and more.

“That’s why he’s the GOAT. That’s why I’m wearing his shoes,” Jackson said.

After that scrimmage, Bobcats played well enough to reach the postseason for the first time since 2002. In 2013, the Bobcats changed their name to the Charlotte Hornets, reclaiming the history and records of the 1988-2002 Hornets.

Jordan’s greatness keeps on growing with these kinds of stories that highlight his competitive nature.
