The Boston Celtics star forward Jaylen Brown ripped Nike alongside the company?s co-founder and chairman Phil Knight after the billionaire released comments regarding Kyrie Irving in wake of a controversial social media post from the Brooklyn Nets star guard.

Kyrie stepped over the line,” Knight said, according to MarketWatch. “It’s kind of that simple. He made statements that we just can’t abide by and that’s why we ended the relationship. And I was fine with that.”

Knight’s comments came following Nike’s suspension of Irving’s previous partnership. Both sides released seven lines of sneakers with the eighth formerly scheduled to release in November.

In a quote tweet on Twitter that contained Knight’s quote, Brown fired back at Nike, stating

Brown has been outspoken about his defense of Irving, a fellow VP in the NBPA after he was suspended for at least five games by the Nets last week with a series of conditions for his return.

“Since when did Nike care about ethics?”

This also isn’t the first time Jaylen Brown has come out with a strong statement involving an antisemitic issue. Last month, the Celtics star also showed his support for Kanye West after the rap icon blasted the Jewish people on Twitter. Brown quickly backtracked on his comments and decided to cut ties with Kanye’s Donda Sports barely 24 hours after his initial statement.

“He made a mistake. He posted something,” Brown said of Irving to the Boston Globe. “There was no distinction. Maybe we can move forward, but the terms in which he has to fulfill to return, I think not just speaking for me, speaking as a vice president from a lot of our players, we didn’t agree with the terms that was required for him to come back. But we’ll go from there. That’s all I’ll say.”
