The untimely death of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins has generated different versions about the causes of his death, which happened in the city of Chapinero in Bogota, Colombia, where the rock band was going to give a concert.
Originally, on Friday night the official Instagram account of the Foo Fighters reported Hawkins’ death, without revealing further information about the causes of his death.
“The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins. His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever. Our hearts go out to his wife, children and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time,” the statement reads.
Drug overdose, first version of Hawkins’ death
However, as the hours passed, details emerged about his death with the suspicion that it could have been a drug-related overdose.
According to a report published by the Daily Mail, Colombian police said the death of Hawkins, 50, may be drug-related.
Colombian authorities give update on Hawkins’ cause of death
This Saturday, the District Health Secretariat of Bogota, Colombia, shared a statement from local health authorities, which does not directly discuss drug use.
“The Bogotá emergency center sent an ambulance to the hotel. They had received reports of “a patient with chest pains,” the statement said.
“Efforts were attempted to resuscitate Hawkins. However, there was no response and the patient was declared deceased,” Colombian health authorities add.
Although this official information does not mention drug use as a possible cause of Hawkins’ death, different media continue to talk about that version.
Just after Hawkins’ death was announced, different music figures and Foo Fighters fans have shared tributes in honor of the renowned drummer.
