Gerrit Cole gave the New York Yankees exactly what they needed to stay alive during the first seven innings, a situation that the offensive bullpen of the Bronx Bombers did not take for granted as they hit a two-run homer to win 4-2 over the Cleveland Guardians in Game 4 on Sunday night.

Cole permitted two runs but struck out eight Guardians keeping the bases empty, and frustrating Cleveland’s offensive planning, however, the pitcher was pulled after 110 pitches by Yankees’ Aaron Boone who brought Clay Holmes in the eighth inning to close the game.

Holmes shined after Cole

After Holmes struck out Amed Rosario, All-Star José Ramírez followed and Wandy Peralta he finished the inning safely and retired three batters on just seven pitches.

On the other hand, Cleveland had a great run yesterday and became the first team in 168 games to overcome a multi-run deficit.

Oscar Gonzalez had a good opportunity to make history

On the last game Oscar Gonzalez had the opportunity for Cleveland’s slugger who rose quickly from rookie to postseason and maybe to the world series depending on the result of the next game.

The 24-year-old was walked off twice but has had an aggressive stance at the plate and does not hit anything that moves, he normally takes his time to hit the ball.

Manager Terry Francona commented that “He swung at a ball in in the fifth inning that almost hit him in the Adam’s apple, and he comes back and that was an at-bat he went deep to right field. He’s a little unique.”
