Welcome to Marca’s 2022 Fantasy Football Guide: Sleepers section. In 2021, players like Cordarrelle Patterson and Damien Harris came out of nowhere to earn Fantasy players championships. Every year, Sleepers are the key to winning Fantasy championships. Everyone can foresee Cooper Kupp (ADP 5), Justin Jefferson (ADP 6) or Jonathan Taylor (ADP 1) having great seasons, because that is what’s expected of them due to a strong performance last season. Sleepers, however, are players that no one sees coming and can give you the most value for your draft capital.

2022 Fantasy Football Sleepers (ranked by lowest ADP)

Austin Hooper (ADP 213 – TE 28)

People are completely avoiding Austin Hooper due to an awful stint with the Cleveland Browns, where he tanked due to lack of targets in a powerful offense. And not to mention, having to compete with athletic freak and fellow tight end David Njoku. However, Hooper is now with the Tennesee Titans and can be a vital target for Ryan Tannehill in TD passing situations and important 3rd down conversion.

Trevor Lawrence (ADP 143 – QB 19)

Did everyone forget Trevor Lawrence was the number one overall pick of last year’s NFL Draft? Apparently. Yes, the Jaguars aren’t destined to be a playoff team but they aren’t being coached by the dumpster fire that was Urban Meyer. Travis Etienne, last year’s highest projected rookie RB is also back from injury and will finally debut in the NFL. Lawrence is poised to crush last year’s mediocre numbers: 3,641 yards,12 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. Christian Kirk (WR) who shined at time in a crowded Arizona Cardinals backfield will also don a Jaguars uniform for the first time.

Rondale Moore (ADP 130 – WR 5)

Christian Kirk is gone and DeAndre Hopkins is out for the first 6 games due to a PED violation. Newcomer Marquise Brown will take away some targets, but will also stretch the field for Moore to take advantage of. Rondale Moore is poised to start for Hopkins until the veteran star returns. He is being drafted at the 53rd WR, it is unthinkable for him to not not have a breakout year with Kyler Murray throwing fresh off his new contract.

Tua Taigovailoa (ADP 125 – QB 16)

Two words: Tyreek Hill. Tua will have the NFL’s best YAC (yards after catch) receiver in the league. He also has a coach, Mike McDaniel, who fully believes in his abilities and a solid offseason as the Dolpins number one uncontested QB. Remember, ‘Tank for Tua’, was the NFL’s entire slogan for the year the old Alabama QB was drafted by the Dolphins. With his hip injury far behind him and the Cheetah on the roster, and not to mention a great pass-catching RB in Chase Edmonds, Tua Taigovailoa looks like he’ll be in QB1 territory this season and far better than his ADP of 125 overall indicates.

Cole Kmet (ADP 117 – TE 14)

Justin Fields will be the uncontested QB1 for the Chicago Bears and Kmet clearly turned into his favorite TE target last season. This season, the Bears’ offensive line is in shambles, which may actually spark some value for Kmet when Fields is rushed and can’t use his legs to run. Cole Kmet learned from Jimmy Graham and is not entering his third season. He should absolutely be a Top-8 TE this season and is being drafted as number 14 in the category (and 117 overall). The Bears are also reportedly downplaying how good he has been looking this offseason.

Derek Carr (ADP 108 – QB 14)

Derek Carr will have several top-notch targets this season in a franchise who is aiming to repeat last year’s playoff berth, and more. Hunter Renfrow (WR), and Darren Waller (TE) are back in the mix but now… Davante Adams (WR) is here! Not to mention that him and Carr are best friends and played together in college. Adams is still this year’s biggest trade, and Carr will certainly benefit. Carr had a career high 4,804 yards last season and he beat the 30-TD mark in passing for the first time since 2015.

Chris Olave (ADP 104 – WR 45)

Chris Olave is a rookie but is being severely underdrafted in drafts so far, with an ADP of 104 overall and 45 in the wide receiver category. The Saints will have Jarvis Landry and Michael Thomas as other WRs in the depth chart, but both have a history of injuries, the rookie has shined during the preseason, and is one of the main contenders for Offensive Rookie of the Year. If Jameis Winston has a good year, Olave should shine.

Allen Lazard (ADP 103 – WR 43)

Will Allen Lazard win the battle over the Packers’ new rookie signings?

Davante Adams’ exit to the Raiders opens a big door for Lazard, as well as Marquez Valdez-Scantling signing for the Chiefs. Unless Romeo Doubs, rookie WR, gets all of Aaron Rodgers attention, Lazard is the clear man up to be the Packers WR1. Which makes his 103 ADP (43 within wide receivers) ridiculously low. Even if Doubs has a great rookie season, Rodgers has plenty of targets to go around.

Chase Edmonds (ADP 84 – RB 32)

Edmonds will not be a three-down back in Miami, but is by far their highest quality option in the backfield. The pass-catching abilities that made him shine in Arizona will now be on display in of the AFC’s most explosive offenses. If he stays healthy, Edmonds will be a Top-20 RB going for an average 32 ADP within runningbacks.
