Tua Tagovailoa’s horrific injury during NFL’s Week 4 Thursday Night Football game between the Miami Dolphins and the Cincinnati Bengals keeps making headlines, specially because the risks behind a concussion are pretty severe and in the past years players safety has been a major issue being addressed in the league.

And now for the first time, NFL’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Allen Sills has spoken about the incident.

During an interview with the DailyMail, Dr. Allen Sills, the NFL’s Chief Medical Officer said that the league is always concerned when any of their players suffern an injury, regardless of the type, with their goal continuing to be to prevent as many as they can from happening, and when they unfortunately occur, give proper treatment to the players.

He then went on to speak about concussions and how Tua Tagovailoa’s injury could be related to his new injury.

“We have made a number of changes to our concussion protocol… we take a very detailed and involved look at ourselves, our outcomes, our procedures every single year in the idea of getting better. And we have got better and I believe we’ll continue to get better”, Dr. Sills expressed.

The neurosurgeon then added that the league will get better through the incident surrounding Tua Tagovailoa’s injury.

“That’s the nature of medicine. As a physician, I certainly don’t do things identical today to what I did five or 10 years ago. That quest to improve will continue.’

Tua Tagovailoa is reportedly resting at home

Jeremy Fowler from ESPN is reporting that Tua Tagovailoa is at his home in South Florida after making the trip back home alongside his teammates, after being discharged from a Cincinnati hospital on Thursday night.

He added that initial test don’t show structural damage on Tua, but further tests will be conducted.
