After producing two below-par performances against the Washington Wizards and Orlando Magic in terms of shooting and decision making, Luka Doncic bounced back with an extraordinary display against the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday.

The Dallas Mavericks star registered 42 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists to become the sixth player to have ever managed at least four triple-doubles while scoring 40 or more points.

Oscar Robertson tops the list, as he has managed to do so 22 times, followed by James Harden (16), Russell Westbrook (13), Wilt Chamberlain (7) and LeBron James (6).

Despite his impressive performance, Dallas didn’t grab a comfortable win, beating Portland 117-112 as the game was tight. Doncic managed 13/22 shots and scored three crucial three-pointers in the closing stages to make it 112-108.

“We came back after two painful defeats and showed a very good performance,” Doncic said.

“When we play the way we did this time, it’s really hard to beat us. Although I didn’t play my best in the previous two games, the fans supported me loudly, for which I am very grateful.”

Meanwhile, his coach Jason Kidd praised his player for his virtues and attitude on the court.

“He had 42, triple-double, just a little walk in the park,” Dallas coach Jason Kidd said.

“He’s human. But I think losing two in a row and not playing well, the guys who have seen him the most, he’s always bounced back. That’s what he did tonight. He could have easily taken the game off to get some rest, but he fought and put us in position to win.”
