New York Jets rookie cornerback Sauce Gardner celebrated the team’s 27-10 win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday at Lambeau Field by wearing a cheesehead and taunting the home crowd.
Packers wide receiver Allen Lazard did not appreciate Gardner’s actions, running behind him to knock the cheese off his head.
Gardner, 22, has proven to be worth the fourth overall pick, helping the Jets to a 4-2 record.
Lazard, 26, commented on the incident after the game, saying he can’t be mad at someone whose name is “Sauce.”
“It’s a cool name too. Sauce. I can’t even be mad,” Lazard said.
Packers start losing streak
Packers currently hold a 3-3 record, losing the last two consecutive contests.
On Sunday, Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw for 246 yards and a touchdown on 26-for-41 completions.
Gardner finished the night with three tackles.
Jets visit the Denver Broncos next Sunday as the Packers take on the Washington Commanders.
