The doubts about Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes before the start of the regular season had to do with whether he would suffer the departure of star wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who was traded to the Miami Dolphins in the offseason, were put to rest with the shocking 44-21 win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1.
In that game, Mahomes threw five touchdown passes to become the first quarterback in NFL history to throw at least three touchdown passes in five consecutive season-opening games, but there were slight concerns after leaving the game early with a wrist injury.

That concern was heightened by the fact that the Chiefs will be the first to play in Week 2 as they will have their home opener at Arrowhead Stadium when they host the Los Angeles Chargers on Thurdsay Night Football in an intriguing matchup in the strong AFC West Division.
However, head coach Andy Reid assured that Mahomes would be available for the game and minutes later Mahomes showed his wrist injury, although he also endorsed his availability, according to The Kansas City Star.

“Just normal stuff, just kind of taking care of it, kind of keeping some stuff on it,” Mahomes said. “But other than that, it feels great today. Hopefully, it keeps getting better like this and I’ll be good to go on Thursday. I’m sure I’ll be good to go this week.”
Thursday’s game has a lot of importance as it will be the first divisional game for the Chiefs, as the Chargers are coming off a Week 1 defeat of another team in the division, the Las Vegas Raiders.
