The New England Patriots have officially ruled out quarterback Mac Jones from Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers, deciding not to jeopardize his future like the Miami Dolphins did with Tua Tagovailoa.

Brian Hoyer will be the starting QB for New England against Green Bay, giving Jones extra time to heal from his ankle injury suffered last weekend in a loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Jones, 24, had to be carried off the field after getting injured on the team’s final offensive play.

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick had said Jones was “day-to-day” and the QB was at Friday’s practice before getting ruled out for good.

Hoyer, 36, will the 40th game of his NFL career, his first since the 2020 season.

Patriots learn from Tua Tagovailoa incident

The news of Jones getting ruled out for Sunday come amid Tagovailoa suffering a horrible neck injury Thursday night against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Tagovailoa, 24, was placed in concussion protocol after the loss and the Dolphins are getting bashed by the NFL community for mishandling the QB’s injury.

The 24-year-old QB was comuing off an injury a week prior that the team denied being a concussion, saying it was a back issue.

Now, Tagovailoa is the talk of the league when it comes to how teams manage injuries and concussions, especially after seeing how his fingers locked up due to the “fencing response.”
