This Thursday, Houston Astros starting pitcher Justin Verlander put to rest at least some of the ghosts that had been hunting him in his last eight World Series games as a starting pitcher, having gotten zero wins out of them, and despite a troubling start of the game due to Kyle Schwarber’s home run, he managed to leave the game with a 2-1 lead, that eventually got him his first World Series won game on his resume.
“I can say I got one,” Verlander mentioned postgame.
The veteran Astros pitcher is the running favorite to take this year’s American League Cy Young Award and his teammates wanted to celebrate with him his first World Series win on his record.
“They put me in the cart and rolled me in the shower and just doused me with all sorts of stuff”, the pitcher explained.
Verlander then mentioned that it was one of the best feelings of his career.

Philadelphia Phillies fans tried everything they could to get Justin Verlander to loose his focus during World Series Game 5, even to the extent of chanting “Where’s Kate Upton“, referencing Verlander’s supermodel wife, who was in attendance at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia alongside their daughter.
The couple is getting set to celebrate their 5th anniversary later this month and Verlander would surely like to do that as a World Series champion.
Houston Astros are one win away from the World Series title
Game 6 of the World Series is scheduled for this Saturday in Houston, were the Astros will look to seal the championship in front of their home crowd, with them needing just one more win in the two possible remaining games to lift the Comissioner’s Trophy.
