Prince William and Kate Middleton are now one of the best known couples in the world and are a perfect example of a loving relationship, but it wasn’t always the case.
The now-Princess of Wales, Kate, was reduced to tears in 2006 by her then-boyfriend as a result of him cancelling their New Year’s Eve plans at the last minute.
The information has resurfaced amid the controversial docuseries involving Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
“William had been having second thoughts and sat down with his father and his grandmother to have a frank discussion about his future with Kate,” according to author Katie Nicholl who wrote in her 2011 tome The Making of a Royal Romance.
“Both advised him not to hurry into anything.”
Split followed by marriage
Soon after that troubled incident, the pair split in April 2007. However, they were able to patch up their issues later that year.
In 2010, they became engaged and then, a year later, got married in a wedding that was watched by over 160 million people around the world.
The couple now have three children are much adored by the people of the United Kingdom and beyond.
