Much has been said that Meghan Markle has never been liked by the British royal family both for her ancestry, skin color and for being American by birth. But according to a soon-to-be-released book, Queen Elizabeth IIactually liked her.

At least that’s what English broadcaster Gyles Brandreth points out in the book “Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait.” According to him, one of the things that worried the monarch most was that her grandson, Harry, was too much in love with Meghan, but that, Brandreth says, “was as far as she went – at least as far as I know – in uttering a word against the new Duchess of Sussex.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle mocked by Australian TV presenter for ‘heroic stance’

‘Lilibeth’ was fond of Meghan, despite what is being said

In the book, which is published in December, the author notes that Elizabeth II “was genuinely delighted when she learned that her grandson was to marry Markle.

The queen “liked Meghan and told many people so. And she went out of her way to make her future granddaughter-in-law feel welcome,” Brandreth asserts.

“She liked her so much that she wasn’t even put off by the Sussexes’ infamous interview with Oprah Winfrey. I can say, because I know, that the Queen was always more concerned about Harry’s well-being than ‘this TV nonsense,‘” he said.

Another revelation the author makes is that “I had heard that the Queen had a form of myeloma – bone marrow cancer – which would explain her tiredness and weight loss and those mobility problems we were often told about during the last year or so of her life.”

Officially, Queen Elizabeth II died of old age last September 8 at 96.
