Disney responded to a discriminatory law, and Florida’s governor stripped Disney of its self-governing status.
Now, the governor punished the Tampa Bay Rays for sharing facts about gun violence.
DeSantis receives donations from the National Rifle Association. The NRA is one of the organizations pushing for looser gun laws in the United States.
Multiple sources show that more guns represent more gun-related casualties.
Tampa Bay donated $50,000 to a gun-control organization
After the mass shooting of Uvalde and Buffalo, the Tampa Bay Rays announced a $50,000 donation to the gun-control organization, Everytown for Gun Safety.
Before the game against the New York Yankees, the Rays shared a social media message alluding to the tragedies.
“The Tampa Bay Rays are mourning these heartbreaking tragedies that took the lives of innocent children and adults.”
“This cannot become normal. We cannot become numb. We cannot look the other way. We all know, if nothing changes, nothing changes.”
The Uvalde school shooting was particularly personal for Rays reliever Brooks Raley, who is from Uvalde and still has family who lives in the town.
