Sixteen years ago, one of the most unlikely love stories of our time happened. The tale of Gisele & Tom, where two worlds collided: the top of the modeling universe, and the future GOAT of the NFL.
It all began one day in New York, in 2006. Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen went on their first date at a wine bar in the West Village neighborhood without having met before. Besides seeing each other’s faces on magazine covers, it was essentially a ‘blind date’, and they had been introduced by a mutual friend.
Gisele had many high-profile boyfriends in the past, most notably Leonardo DiCaprio… but not had truly stuck. Tom Brady was different. He was a rising star in the NFL, a three-time Super Bowl winner with the Patriots (now seven-time champion).
Tom and Gisele: it was ‘love at first sight’
Right away, both clicked with each other and knew they had found their life partner. On Access Hollywood back in May of 2016, Tom Brady revealed that he and Gisele Bündchen met at the right time. “I’m blessed to find this life partner that we all kind of seek at different times in our life. We found each other at the right time”.

Gisele went on to explain how both instantly clicked: “”I knew right way – the first time I saw him. We met through a friend. The moment I saw him, he smiled and I was like, ‘That is the most beautiful, charismatic smile I’ve ever seen!’ We sat and talked for three hours. I had to go home for Christmas, but I didn’t want to leave”.

However, the largest or wrenches was thrown into the blossoming relationship back in 2006, an unexpected pregnancy. Not Gisele’s however, but another woman’s. It was Bridget Moynahan’s, the actress that Brady had been linked to for two previous years. And several months later, in August of 2007, Brady’s first son was born: John Edward Thomas Moynahan.
Tom Brady admitted this was a difficult moment for them, but Gisele got over it with time, and she boasted about the relationship with her now stepson in a later interview: “I don’t like the word stepmom. I use the word bonus mom because I feel like it’s a blessing in my life. I feel so lucky that I got to have an extra, wonderful little angel.”
Two kids together and ‘the happy years’
Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen tied the knot on Febryary 26, 2009, in a private Catholic ceremony in Santa Monica, California. Afterwards came their two children – a son named Benjamin Rein born in December 2009, and a daughter named Vivian Lake born in December 2012. After many years both children don’t see John Edward Thomas as a half sibling, but as their full brother.
Many life experiences and Super Bowl wins together, we arrive to 2022, now two years removed from a surprise move to Tampa Bay. Gisele had always remained supportive of hr husband’s career choices. Until he, 41 days later, decided to revert his retirement decision and change the Brady-Bündchen dynamic once again.
2022: where it all went wrong between Tom and Gisele
One would think that a career as long as 45-year-old’s Tom Brady would be easy to leave aside. But for Tom, his legacy is everything and he always, to reporter’s scoffs, assured he would play till he was this age. And not only has he reached it, but has done so remaining one of the best in the game in this day. A feat that locks in his ‘GOAT’ status for near eternity.

The problem? Marriage is based on trust and compromise, and according to sources close to the situation, Gisele feels she has been failed in this sense and not looped into what Tom Brady was always planning on doing: returning to the NFL for one last season.
Communication is everything in a marriage, and without it, even dream couples like Tom & Gisele can fall apart…
