Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson is facing 22 civil lawsuits from women accusing him of sexual misconduct. While testifying during a pretrial deposition last week, he admitted that a massage session with one of the accusers ended in tears.

According to USA Today’s Brent Schrotenboer, Watson said he sent the massage therapist, Ashley Solis, an apologetic text message.
“I’m sorry you are uncomfortable,” Watson wrote, according to a screenshot previously released by Solis’ attorneys. “It was never the intentions. Talk to me if you want to work in the future. My apologies.”

When asked why he apologized, Watson claimed he didn’t know why he was crying. Solis, the first woman to come forward with accusations against Watson, alleged that he intentionally exposed himself and touched her with his penis.
“Yes, because she was teary-eyed,” Watson responded. “And I was trying to figure out what was going on. So, I assumed she was uncomfortable for whatever reason. And we talked about working on the future. So, I said, ‘We can work in the future. I know.’ And then I sent her my apologies for whatever reason she was teary-eyed.”
According to Schrotenboer, Watson has other depositions in June, but no lawsuit is likely to go to trial until after February. Two grand juries in Texas declined to file criminal charges.
Watson will meet with NFL officials this week to determine whether to discipline him under the league’s personal conduct policy.
