Rique Puig’s controversial departure from Barcelona
Barcelona cast Riqui Puig aside during pre-season to force his exit from the club, as they left him and a number of players in Catalonia as they set off on tour.
“I’ve never seen anything like it before – leaving players at home in Barcelona and not taking them on tour with them. Maybe it’s that because of the situation they wanted to pressure their players to leave, but there are better ways of doing things,” Puig said of his departure.
“I was disappointed, even more so after seven years at the club. Being in Barcelona while all my teammates were here playing matches, it hurt me a lot.
“It’s a complicated situation, sometimes you have to make decisions, they made this decision and I don’t agree with it.”
