Tennis master Serena Williams and MLB superstar Albert Pujols just pulled off an incredible feat unlike anything ever seen before, proving they are two of the greatest athletes in all of sports.

After Williams, 40, defeated Danka Kovinic in the opening round of the US Open on Monday, one Twitter user pointed out how she won in the same tournament 21 years ago to the day.

On August 29, 2001, Williams defeated Denisa Chladkova in the second round of the US Open, where Serena would go on to lose in the final against her older sister Venus Williams.

That same day, a rookie Pujols hit a home run while playing for the St. Louis Cardinals, where he’s currently rostered.

Fast-forward 21 years and Pujols did the same thing, on the same squad, on the same night that Serena accomplished the same thing she did over two decades ago. *Exhales.*

Longevity is greatness

Both Williams and Pujols are currently on their respective farewell tour prior to retiring, so this crazy stat was what fans needed to appreciate their longevity.

Athletes like NFL quarterback Tom Brady and NBA superstar LeBron James are playing longer than ever before.

James, 37, gave a nod to Williams on Twitter, recognizing that she is a GOAT [Greatest Of All Time] and pleading she keep her serve going.

Williams will now face No. 2 Anett Kontaveit in the second round of the US Open as she attempts to prolong her final Grand Slam.
