Sergio Ramos is finally enjoying life at Paris Saint-Germain after months of injury problems.

The Spaniard has started in all four matches so far this season and played a key role in the Trophy des Champions victory over Nantes, scoring the third goal in the 4-0 result.

Coach Christophe Galtier has gladly put Ramos alongside Presnel Kimpembe and Marquinhos in his new three-man backline.

It’s helped Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Lionel Messi get off to a blistering start too: four games, four wins, 21 goals scored and three conceded.

Last season went so poorly for Ramos that there were even suggestions he could leave PSG, but all that is now in the past, as he’s turned that criticism into praise.

He stepped into the Mbappe-Neymar conflict

Along with being a starter for Galtier, Ramos has also shown he’s now more comfortable off the pitch in Paris as well.

Le Parisien reports the defender was key in defusing the tension between Mbappe and Neymar following the ‘penaltygate’ that rocked the Paris dressing room.

Ramos stepped in to mediate at first, before the club intervened to settle the controversy between the two stars.

Return to the national team

Ramos‘ form has even put a return to the national team back on the table.

With just three months until the start of the World Cup in Qatar, the centre-back isn’t giving up on regaining Luis Enrique‘s confidence despite last playing for La Roja almost a year and a half ago (his last match was against Kosovo on March 31, 2021).

Since that last appearance in what was his final season at Real Madrid, Ramos has had to navigate a raft of injuries that not only prevented him from playing for his club, but also ruled him out from returning to the national team.

Last season he made just 13 appearances for PSG after suffering three knee injuries.

With those woes now behind him, Ramos is ready to not only be a key player for PSG, but to also fight for his dream of featuring in a fifth World Cup.
