Spencer Strider is still a rookie in the Atlanta Braves, but he’s got the potential to become a professional. Prior to his MLB career, he played for minor league teams such as Augusta GreenJackets, Rome Braves, Mississippi Braves, and the Gwinnett Stripers. Before joining MLB, he was the top freshman at Clemson in 2018 and later missed the season in 2019 because of an injury. He returned to the field in 2020 and started playing as a weekend starter. Soon he became one of the hardest fastball players on the team. He played as both long reliever and starter, became a three-time ACC Academic Honor Roll member, and had 26 appearances with 10 starts where he had 63.0 innings pitched. He played with the season record of 5-2, with a 4.71 ERA allowing 53 hits, 38 walks, and 89 strikeouts.

Early Life

Spencer Strider was born on 28th October 1998 1998 in Columbus, Ohio. Only one thing is certain his grandmother is one of the big fans of Cleveland Indians. He went to the Christian Academy of Knoxville in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he received his primary education.

He was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 35th round of the MLB 2017 Draft but did not sign a contract with them. Instead, he played college baseball for the Clemson Tigers at Clemson University. Back in 2018, Strider played collegiate summer baseball while being on the team of Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League. Later in 2019, he missed the season because of his injury- a torn UCL, which required him to receive Tommy John surgery. Strider returned from the injury in 2020 and was later drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the fourth round of the MLB 2020 draft, with which he finally made the contract.

MLB

He made his professional MLB debut in 2021 and splits his time between the Mississippi Braves, the Gwinnett Stripers, Augusta GreenJackets, and the Rome Braves. Between the four teams, he pursued his games with a record of 3-7 with 2.64 ERA, 153 strikeouts, and 94 innings. On 1st October 2021, Strider was selected by the Atlanta active roster, where he made his major league debut, with one inning of relief against the New York Mets.

Strider earned his career-high and first win on the final day of the season while facing Mets in the relief. His team won the season with a record of 88-73, eventually winning the 2021 World Series, giving the team its first title ever won after the first victory in 1995. Now Strider is supposed to begin his 2022 season with the Braves’ Opening Day Roster.
